The Christ-figure in the film The Shawshank Redemption (1994) is Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins). Though innocent Andy spends 19 years in Shawshank prison. He fights for his dignity and the dignity of his fellow prisoners despite the de-humanizing environment, and becomes close friends with Ellis “Red” Redding (played by Morgan Freeman). This is a story of friendship, and goodness, and resurrection, despite the reality of evil. The film is Rated R for language and prison violence. Watch the trailer and Fr.
